Siemens 5WY ECMs were used on both Delta and Beta motors on a range of vehicles from the mid 1990s to early 2010s. The main difference is the number of harness/socket and pin counts.

Siemens 5WY 5 Connector (2.7L V6)

2003 2.7L V6 Delta 2MBit
2004 2.7L V6 Delta 4MBit

The Siemens 5WY 5 connector ECM is found on an array of vehicles ranging between 1999 and 2012 equipped on the 2.5L and 2.7L Delta motors including the Sonata, Santa Fe, Tucson, Tiburon and Sportage. There are two types of EEPROMs used across this range known as 2MBit and 4MBit (or 256Kbytes and 512Kbytes). There are 5 major variants of this ECM. Of which there were only 4 variants found on the Tiburon platform. These variants can be identified by the 5WY designation under the SIEMENS logo here:

  • 5WY12 - 2MBit family 1999-2001
  • 5WY15 - 2MBit family 2002-2003
  • 5WY17 - 4MBit family 2003-2004
  • 5WY18 - 4MBit family 2005-2006
  • 5WY1F - 4MBit family 2007-2009

The vehicle chassis code, year, region and engine type can be found on the right of the label:

  • G - GK model
  • 2 - 2002 year (3 = 2003, 4 = 2004, 5 = 2005, etc. etc.)
  • N - North American (E = European)
  • 7 - Delta 2.7L

There is a date code just above the barcode which identifies the date which it was flashed. The dates are written as "DAY.MONTH.YEAR" with the following examples:

  • 30.10.02 - October 30th 2002
  • 18.12.03 - December 18th 2003

Siemens 5WY 2 Connector (2.0L L4)

2003 2.0L L4 Beta 2MBit Non-CVVT
2004 2.0L L4 Beta 4MBit CVVT
2008 2.0L L4 Beta 4MBit CVVT

The Siemens 5WY 2 connector ECM is found on an array of vehicles up to approximately 2012 equipped with the 2.0L Beta motors. There are two types of EEPROMs used across this range known as 2MBit and 4MBit (or 256Kbytes and 512Kbytes). There are 5 major variants of this ECM. These variants can be identified by the 5WY designation under the SIEMENS logo here:

  • 5WY14 - 2MBit family Non-CVVT
  • 5WY16 - 4MBit family CVVT
  • 5WY1A - 4MBit family CVVT
  • 5WY41 - 4MBit family CVVT
  • 5WY44 - 4MBit family CVVT

The vehicle chassis code, year, region and engine type can be found on the right of the label:

  • G - GK model
  • 4 - 2004 year (3 = 2003, 4 = 2004, 5 = 2005, etc. etc.)
  • N - Region. N is North American
  • C - BETA 2.0 CVVT (0 is BETA 2.0 non-CVVT)

There is a date code just above the barcode which identifies the date which it was flashed. The dates are written as "DAY.MONTH.YEAR" with the following examples:

  • 07.05.03 - May 7th 2003
  • 21.08.03 - August 21st 2003
  • 29.08.07 - August 29th 2007
